Welcome to HotelGuide.Networks' directory of hotels and hotel reviews for Liverpool, England!

Liverpool -- birthplace of not only the incomparable Beatles but also home of Atomic Kitten, Echo and the Bunnymen, and Frankie Goes to Hollywood -- stands as a gateway to Britain, reflecting rich maritime history and an even richer cultural heritage. The Albert Dock is home to the Merseyside Maritime Museum, and a trip across the river on the famed Mersey Ferry provides dramatic views of the waterfront and Three Graces -- the Royal Liver Building, with the fabled liver birds atop, the Cunard Building, and the Port of Liverpool Building. The Wirrel side of the river boasts the stunning Spaceport attraction at the Seacome ferry terminal. Other Liverpool attractions include the revamped World Museum Liverpool and Walker Art Gallery, the Tate Liverpool, and Museum of Liverpool Life, near what's known as the Beatles Story, an award-winning recreation of 18 settings including the quartet's Cavern City stomping grounds, and a yellow submarine. For experiencing Liverpool a la Beatles, Cavern City Tours operates a vintage Magical Mystery Tour Bus, identical to the one in the 1967 film, visiting favored haunts of the Fab Four growing up, meeting, and proceeding to make history.

Liverpool shopping options mix well-known High Street names and quirky boutiques, and the Met Quarter is home to MAC's only store outside London, plus designer names including Armani, Prada and Gucci. Ethnic diversity, including the oldest Chinatown in Europe, has brought a wide range of dining and nightlife choices from Asian to Rat Pack, with the Blundell Street Restaurant near Kings Dock providing a modern take on classic Sinatra-era lounges. Having edged out stiff competition from other European cities, Liverpool will fly the flag for Britain as the European Capital of Culture in 2008, in recognition of cultural heritage, passion and vision. Running up to the official celebration are assorted events, including the Liverpool Biennial Festival. Liverpool lodging options range from historic inns to new luxury hotels, including fine hotels in Wirral, the peninsula between the River Mersey and the River Dee.
